Performance and projects

Sonorous Quartet

I regularly perform across a wide range of styles and with a variety of fellow musicians, mainly in the north of England. I mainly play violin and piano, and I've appeared at many festivals including Wigan, Southport and Manchester jazz festivals, Cambridge, Morecambe and Presteigne world music festivals, Manchester International Festival and Experyment Festival (Poland).

Current projects I'm involved with include Sonorous Quartet and Petrus (jazz), St Helens Sinfonietta (as leader) and Woodside String Quartet (mainly classical), Mindset Ensemble (contemporary concert music), Jazz Flute Big Band (of which I am Musical Director) and The Tafts (contemporary folk).

A continuing jazz project is Trio Nay, in which I play piano with Naomi Webber (voice) and Lee Webber (double bass): www.facebook.com/trionay

We have an EP available digitally (via https://trionay.bandcamp.com/album/trio-nay-friends), tracks on Spotify and a CD album The Mill Sessions, and some demo recordings can be heard at: www.soundcloud.com/trionayuk

I have also been involved in the formation of an organisation (with Mike Smith and Miranda Rimmer) to promote and present jazz in Southport. This is called Southport Jazz Club, and we have put on regular jazz events in the town, which started with monthly gigs at the Atkinson Bakery in autumn 2016.
